Impact on families
It was chaos, then closer for the family of Lancelot Reginald Alderson as they didn't find out he had actually dies until his father sent the red cross letters. It was obviously a very anxious time for thousands of families, although this one in particular. Lancelot was only 19 when he arrived at Gallipoli, although within a short week he was dead. His family and community didn't find out this tragic news until a year and passed. After his father, Henry Alderson, had sent a substantial amount of letters explaining to the red cross that he wanted closure.
